Introduction
Kait encourages a quiet feeling of sanctuary in the class atmosphere. She asks participants to shake off the dust of the day before they enter the room and welcomes them to enjoy the peace of the present moment. Much growth both on the yoga mat and otherwise is born of silence. Inner attentiveness to feelings, sensations, mind activity, and mental and physical balance and alignment during the practice of yoga is a starting point for spiritual growth and empowering change. Remove this meditative focus and yoga becomes another physical "work out."

Beginners' Basics I and II (Gentle)
The focus of these two eight week sessions is on learning:
* basic yoga postures (asanas)
* breathing exercises (pranayama)
* meditation
* relaxation methods of hatha yoga.
You will learn:
* alignment appropriate to your anatomy
* modifications
* the benefits and contraindications of each aspect of yoga practice

The asanas and pranayama build on one another, becoming slightly more challenging from week to week. Gradually, and with practice, you will become skillful in incorporating asana, focus and pranayama together, which is the heart of yoga practice. Kait's approach is gentle and nurturing according to the Kripalu methodology. This course is excellent for those brand new to yoga as well as beginners with some prior experience. The class is open to women and men at any level of fitness.

Beginners' Basic Flow (Moderate)
Here we begin to practice yoga asanas, pranayama and focus in slow, flowing sequences creating meditation in motion. In each class we move through several groups of asanas to revitalize the entire body and mind: standing, forward bends, spinal twists, backward bends, balancing, inversions and sitting postures. As in Beginner's Basics, we continue to learn proper alignment, improve our meditation and relaxation skills, and become more agile in combining all with pranayama.

Beyond (Vigorous)
As Kait continues to work with those who have completed the Basics courses (six months practice), and are committed to a regular home practice, in Beyond we begin to integrate asana, breath and meditative focus more deeply:
* increasing holding times
* working with the subtleties of psychospiritual energy
* developing an exquisit attention to balance, inner alignment and presence
* preparing for a more advanced investigation of asana, meditation and pranayama.
